URBAN COALITION
TOLEDO, OHIO

A Community Coalition of Citizen Groups Focusing on Accountability, Funding and Reform in Public Education

TPS Spending Plan for Issue 37 proceeds - even though a great percentage of this levy goes to projects the Coalition can support, TPS continues to "play games" with Toledo taxpayers and risk public support for a levy that should have been a "slam dunk".

  • Urban Coalition Press Release on spending plan
  • TPS Issue 37 Spending Plan released Friday, 10/21/2005
  • Master Facilities Plan - Locally Funded Initiatives (LFI) May 2002 - used to support Issue 2 request approved by voters in November 2002.
  • Superintendent Sanders' statement on Denny Schaffer Show - May 2, 2005 prior to special election Issue 4 new levy where he said the locally funded intiatives funds would go to athletic stadiums, etc.

"…we went with the bare bones type of approach to make sure we were successful even though it was a close vote back in 2002 if you remember. So should we have gone for more locally funded dollars back in 2002 like some other districts did statewide? Probably yes. We wanted to go with what we thought we could probably win with.”
