Mission and Objectives

The Urban Coalition believes that effective public education is a critical component of a vibrant, prosperous Toledo and must be improved through significant reforms. The following objectives guide the Coalition in reaching this goal:

• We need academic environments in our public schools that are safe and conducive to learning where all students receive the attention and resources necessary to assure academic success.
• Public schools must be adequately funded in a manner equitable to all citizens
• Public funds must be effectively managed to assure that the classroom is our first priority.
• The Board of Education must re-establish control over policy issues where parents, community members, teachers and students are included in development of educational policies and practices that accomplish the objectives above.
